Default Issues with Cable Modem / IP Resetting...

I've been IP banned from Diablo for four days now, and I'm really not wanting to miss the launch of the new ladder season...

I have Rogers High Speed Cable Internet, directly hooked to my Cable Modem.

I was wondering if anyone had an idiot proof way of changing my IP, without contacting my ISP?

Any and all help appreciated.

If they issue static IP's to your modem, then the answer is "no." If not, then you can try an ipconfig /release and /renew to try getting a new IP (assuming a direct connection from the PC to the cable modem with no routers/switches in between).

Generally speaking, residential modems use DHCP protocols for assigning IPs. Static IPs are available in some areas for a much higher fee than you'd otherwise pay for the regular stuff.

When it comes to your IP, the one that servers track is the one that's typically assigned to your modem, so any /release /renew commands would need to be issued on the modem itself, not on your computer, as all this would do is maybe give your computer a new IP address.

In short, no, you'll probably have to contact your ISP.
